Thappinchukoni Thiruguthaledhu Antunna Bunty!!!

When Bunty Walia first announced his venture titled Just Punjabi earlier this year, it seemed to be a casting coup of sorts. The film boasted of a never seen before starcast with Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Although Sanjay Dutt and Ash had come together for David Dhawan’s Hum Kissise Kum Nahin, Ash was paired with Ajay Devgan in that film.

Walia’s project was to be launched soon, but somehow it did not take off. Initially, it was Apoorva Lakhia who was to direct it, but had to opt out due to other commitments. It was then heard that Aishwarya was giving Bunty a tough time and was not taking the producer’s calls. When contacted, Walia rubbishes the rumours.

“Aishwarya has committed to do my film on principle. We have yet to work out the formalities and make an official announcement. Even Sanjay and Abhishek have agreed to do my film. The paper work has yet to be finalised. So, it is ridiculous to hear that Aishwarya is avoiding my calls. She is not avoiding me,” Walia clarifies.

Walia explains that Just Punjabi is still in the scripting stage and once that is complete, the film would be launched. “Making the lead actors sign the formal agreement without the script being complete did not make sense. The script will be ready soon,” he explains.

Walia plans to rope in an established director for the film. “Apoorva was to do the film earlier. However, he had committed himself to other films and therefore, he opted out. There are talks on with an established director. It is only when he has signs on the dotted line will we formally announce his name and the official starcast,” says Walia.
